[No…

The Encounter with Jesus: Un Encuentro con Jesús (Español)
The Encuentro is a process of ecclesial reflection and action that invites all Catholics in the United States to intense missionary activity, consultation, leadership development, and identification of best ministerial practices in the spirit of the New Evangelization. The Encuentro starts at the grass-roots level and calls for the development of resources and initiatives to better serve the fast-growing Hispanic population in dioceses, parishes, ecclesial movements, and other Catholic organizations and institutions in light of its theme: Missionary Disciples: Witnesses of God’s Love.

What is the Goal of the Encounter with Christ?
The main goal of the Encuentro is to discern ways in which the Church can better respond to the Hispanic presence, and to strengthen the ways in which Hispanics respond to the call to the New Evangelization as missionary disciples serving the entire Church.

Benefits to St. John the Evangelist Church by engaging in this Encounter:

1. Can help us reach out to the Hispanic Catholics in our parish and invite them to get engaged in our parish and in the various ministries within our parish.

2. Can help us reach out to Hispanic Catholics in the immediate surrounding community and invite them “to come and share our life with Christ.”

3. Can help us to develop and strengthen all of our programs and ministries.

4. Can help us to empower all of our parishioners and help strengthen their faith.

5. Can help members of our parish become more effective missionary disciples of the New Evangelization.

Serving as a Missionary Disciple
All parishioners of St. John the Evangelist are invited to take part in the five sessions designed to help us serve as Missionary Disciples and give witness to God’s Love. During the sessions participants will be provided with strategies and tools to 1) reach out to the Hispanic members of our parish and encourage them to become more engage in our parish and 2) go out and help evangelize the immediate surrounding community of our church. Participants will be provided journals to write down their observations while helping to evangelize the community. To sign up please visit our sign-up sheet: Encuentro Registration Form.

-St. Gregorio Naciancino (330-390)
