St. John's House is home to Brendan and David, young men with intellectual disabilities, who are assisted in their daily living by in-house staff from Jubilee Association of Maryland. They live on Harmon Road and are cherished members of our parish community, attending 12PM Sunday Mass with their caregivers and often present at other parish events.
Thursday Night Dinners
We are renewing our commitment to provide at least one meal a week (on Thursdays) for St. John's House. If you are able to deliver a home cooked or commercially prepared meal to the Harmon Road address, kindly visit the Take Them a Meal website to sign up to provide a meal. Enter the last name St. John's and the password SJH (case and spaces matter).
St. John's House was developed by Rosaria Communities, an affiliated corporation of the Archdiocese of Washington, working to construct or renovate housing to provide independent living opportunities for individuals who have intellectual disabilities.
Rosaria works to assure a living environment of comfort and care, in which the spiritual needs of the residents will be supported by an involved Catholic community.
The St. John's House Committee provides friendship and resources to the young men and their caregivers in the house. Together, we offer to do the extra things that make a house a home: decorate for the holidays, bake gluten-free cookies, mow the lawn, clean the gutters, and provide other neighborly help for our St. John's House friends. A special thanks to SJE parishioner Frank Caveliere and the Knights of Columbus Rosensteel Council who have joined us in this work of grace. To offer your charisms, gifts or resources to the St. John's House Ministry, contact Margie at margiecuff@gmail.com

We held our 5th! Annual Neighborhood Cookout on August 12th, 2017. It was well attended by the neighbors and members of our parish. Special thanks to Jacki Toma, Catherine Sury and the Young Adult group; the Knights of Columbus- Frank Cavaliere and John Kennedy; and our St. John's House committee for a great day!
Any parish group or family is invited to spend some time with Brendan and David. Bring a meal, drop by and take a walk with Brendan or brush David's hair. A visit in the evening after dinner will be a welcome distraction for the residents before bedtime.
